The hopes, dreams and ambitions of a different kind of chiropractor

I had always imagined there would be a place in this world for a health professional who wished to create a connection with those in her community. I pictured myself practicing in a small, casual office with my sleeves rolled up to my elbows and a big dog curled up asleep on the floor. I knew my credibility would not come from the title doctor or from a white lab jacket but from the personal relationships I built, and in knowing members of my community could trust and depend on me. In the last 21 years I have had the joy of  just that experience.

At first patients rely on me to help them when they are hurting, but my real challenge is to encourage them to reach for a greater health experiences even when they are feeling fine. I am the most alive when I know I have inspired others to go out and do new and amazing things that expand their interest about health and their bodies. Only with a healthy body can all things be enjoyed.

I learned a lot in chiropractic college but I have learned even more from my patients. I love to teach but I try to listen as well. In listening I have learned what people want, what they need and how they respond when empowered about their health instead of being made to fear it. They have taught me that creating opportunities for positive change in someone’s life has more value than the dollars they pay for an adjustment.

Chiropractic is what I do, teacher is who I am.

My intention is to create conversation with others so we can grow and learn from sharing our experiences. I will teach, I will listen and I will share my heart and mind. I invite you to join me in this expanding process.

What my patients have taught me: “Touching spines is beneficial, touching lives is invaluable.”

Yours in health-

Dr. H
